Pot roasts? I’ve met a few along my culinary travels. I’ve also met a few which (unfortunately I made) which were hockey pucks, door stops and anything but tender.
But I’ve broken my moratorium on making pot roasts after finding and trying this recipe. It worked! Tender, succulent, mouth watering! Can’t wait to make this pot roast again. Did I say that? Because while pot roasts are supposed to be economical, there is nothing about economical about cooking a piece of meat for hours only to go out and eat.
I’ve never quite understood why my multiple attempts at pot roast have ranged from mediocre to pathetic. Looks simple, seems simple, a few ingredients and voila. Or what is supposed to be voila for that Sunday meal. Leave it to the Pioneer Woman to reintroduce me to a new family favorite recipe.
Drumroll please and cue the music ….
One of my favorite cooks and cooking shows is Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman. And its’ not just because she uses butter, real butter.
Last week I searched the internet for “best pot roast recipes” and found this beauty by the Pioneer. Entitled the Perfect Pot Roast and this recipe outperformed expectations. Rated at 5 out of 5 stars with 500 plus reviews and I will add my positive review as well.
If you are seeking a pot roast recipe that produces tender meat then I’d highly suggest this one. While low and slow is always the key to a fall apart pot roastI believe it is thesequence of preparation stepswhich ensures a tender pot roastevery time.
I followed the directions as written and was not disappointed. Leave it to The Pioneer Woman to save my pot roast recipe career.

I haven’t made a homemade pot roast because I might dry it up and the taste would be awful. I’ll look into this recipe since I’m trying to cook more at home. #ProductReviewParty

ooo! But I understand 🙂

It looks good. I wonder how much difference it would make to roast it in a crock pot which uses less energy.

I haven’t tried a crock pot w this recipe, though I suspect this is a crock pot friendly recipe.

I make pot roast a lot. If it’s cooked slow and made with meat tenderizer and seasonings you like it’s well worth the wait to make it. It’s one our family favorites for sure.
