This recipe for golden turmeric paste only uses four ingredients – and one of those is water! You can find the ingredients at any grocery store, so add these items to your shopping list.

Uses for Golden Turmeric Paste

Traditionally, golden turmeric paste is used to treat soreness, aches and pains. Arthritis and overextended body parts especially respond to turmeric golden paste.

Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years to treat inflammation, digestive problems and as a beauty aid. Turmeric has antiseptic and stimulative tendencies.

We use golden turmeric paste for our dogs. We have one Border Collie / Golden Retriever mix who’s fighting arthritis. Our other dog, Rex, is a paralyzed German Shepherd Dog. They both have benefited from the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric golden paste.

To feed turmeric golden paste to our dogs, we simply mix it in with their food. Adding a little water and mixing the turmeric in makes a gravy that Josie loves!

Variations:

There really aren’t many ways you can modify this recipe. At least, not if you want to gain the traditional benefits of the turmeric.

You could use a different oil than coconut oil, but be aware that the consistency will be unlike what I demonstrate in this recipe. For example, olive oil will not set to a solid form like coconut oil does.

I usually use just a bit more than 1/5 cups of water. You can use up to 2 cups if you like a more fluid consistency. We like the thicker turmeric paste for our use, so I start with 1.5 cups and sprinkle in drops as I cook the paste.

PS – Don’t leave out the black pepper. Your body needs it to properly metabolize the turmeric!

Make It a Meal:

Add this golden paste to your pasta dishes, soups or use as a marinade on meat. One way I use it is with this Carrot and Turmeric soup.

How to Store Turmeric Golden Paste

Turmeric paste will keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If you find that you are using it more or less frequently, you’ll want to halve or double the recipe.

I store golden turmeric paste in glass jars. The color, as you can see, is a brilliant orange! Turmeric is a fantastic dye (think Buddhist monks robes) and will stain plastic containers and utensils.

I always make my turmeric golden paste in a stainless steel saucepan with a metal whisk. For storage, two 8 ounce jelly jars or one 16 ounce jar works perfectly.
